Will Comply
A couple weeks ago I interviewed Wilco for AOL Sessions. You can check out clips from the interview along with videos of four songs they performed in the studio here. You can't see or hear me, but I'm there, sitting just off camera, wishing writers were as cool as rock stars. The Bright Eyes Sessions performance with the interview I did is also up there now, so check that out too if the mood hits you.
There have been a lot of mixed reviews for Wilco's new album Sky Blue Sky, and at first I wasn't really into it. But after seeing the songs performed live the album grew on me quite a bit and I've been listening to it a lot this week while writing. Wilco is definitely a band you need to see live at least once because, at least for me, their songs seem to lose something on their records.
Jeff Tweedy is also a great guy, and I love his approach to his work. Here's a guy who keeps putting out the kind of music he wants to hear, no matter what critics or his old fans think. It takes a lot of guts to reinvent your art/music/writing over and over again, and he's done it.
In other news, since Lick Your Neighbor is taking forever to make it to print, and since it's getting to the point where I barely remember what the hell the book was even about, I've decided to at least put a few chapters up here for your reading pleasure. I'll try to get it up next week as a PDF.
