So where are you folks from?
You might want to think twice the next time you get the urge to ask a big group of hipster Spaniards where they're from. Because if they happen to be from Barcelona, this is how they'll respond:
You'll be one of us when the night comes? My God, they're vampires. Actually, the band is called I'm from Barcelona, but they really don't look like they're from Barcelona. They look like they're from Sweden. I guess they decided that "We're all from Barcelona" is a bit more catchy than "We're all from Jönköping."
Anyone else sense an inevitable no-holds-barred battle royale between these skinny kids from Barcelona and the kooky bastards of Polyphonic Spree? I sure do. I'm picturing lots of slapping and hair pulling, followed by a big group hug.
I give a slight edge to the Spree in the fight. Why? Because their lead singer thinks he's Jesus and is pretty much batshit crazy.

Thanks to Sara for bringing this ridiculous video to my attention.

Danggone it... I was having a perfectly productive day! I let you interrupt me and send me off through teh intarWebs to find out what's going on with these shiny happy people!
Okay man, here's the results of the research... They ARE from Sweden, of course. (not Barcelona). All 29 of them are in the "band". They're on myspace of course: http://www.myspace.com/imfrombarcelona
Apparently it's cool to be happy again. Thank goodness I was getting tired of faking this frown.

Posted by: Djeef Lavezzo at August 10, 2006 03:05 PMThank you, sir, for the research. I wonder why they didn't just call the band "I'm from Sweden." Does it really matter? The selling point here is that there are 29 of them, they all dress cool, and they're so goddamn happy it makes me want to kill myself.
29? Maybe I'll join and make an even 30.
